When you first plug in the ADTH NextGen TV USB, it may install a firmware update. If that update stops partway through, often at around three quarters complete, please work through the steps below in order. Most cases are resolved by the first two, and a stalled update on the first attempt does not mean the tuner is faulty.
1. Let it try again
Close the ADTH TV app completely, unplug the tuner, plug it back in, and open the app again. The update often completes on a later attempt, and the tuner stays stable afterwards once it has finished initialising.
2. Use a wired connection if you can
Connect your TV or streaming device to your router with an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi, then start the update again. Where an update repeatedly failed over Wi-Fi, switching to a wired connection has completed it.
3. Try a different network
Firewalls on business, school and guest networks can block access to our firmware download server. Connecting to a home network, or to your phone's hotspot, is a quick way to rule this out.
4. Check free storage on the host device
Please also check that the device the tuner is plugged into has free storage space available, because a full device can stop the update file downloading.
5. If it still will not update, contact us
Please open a support ticket. We can supply the firmware file so you can update from a USB drive, and we will check whether the unit needs to be inspected. To save a round trip, please include:
- the serial number of your ADTH NextGen TV USB
- the make and model of the device it is plugged into
- the ADTH TV app version you are on
- a photo or short video of the screen where the update stops
